Some remarks about Cantor sets

چکیده
The classical middle-thirds Cantor set can be described as follows. Start by taking C 0 = [0, 1], the unit interval in the real line. Then put which is to say that one removes the open middle third from the unit interval to get a union of two disjoint closed intervals of length 1/3. By repeating the process one gets for each nonnegative integer j a subset C j of the unit interval which is a union of 2

Alexandroff Topologies Viewed as Closed Sets in the Cantor Cube
We present some results about the class of Alexandroff topologies (i.e. topologies where the intersection of arbitrary many open sets is open) from the perspective obtained when they are viewed as closed subsets of the Cantor cuber 2 (the power set of X with the product topology).
متن کاملThe approximate solutions of Fredholm integral equations on Cantor sets within local fractional operators
In this paper, we apply the local fractional Adomian decomposition and variational iteration methods to obtain the analytic approximate solutions of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind within local fractional derivative operators. The iteration procedure is based on local fractional derivative. The obtained results reveal that the proposed methods are very efficient and simple tools ...
متن کاملUniform Algebras in the Cantor and Baire Spaces
For each pointclass Γ ⊆ P (2) define U [Γ] as the collection of all X ⊆ 2 such that the preimage f−1(X) belongs to Γ for each continuous f : 2 → 2. We study the properties of and possible relationships among the classes U [Γ], where Γ ranges over the σ-algebras (l), (m), the completely Ramsey sets, and the sets with the Baire property. We also prove some results about cardinal coefficients of U...

متن کاملUniqueness of Representation by Trigonometric Series
In 1870 Georg Cantor proved that a 2sr periodic omplex valued function of a real variable coincides with the values of at most one trigonometric series. We present his proof and then survey some of the many one dimensional generalizations and extensions of Cantor's theorem. We also survey the situation in higher dimensions, where a great deal less is known. 1. Cantor's uniqueness theorem. In 18...
